"Bonfires" Rosie and Me

I just discovered this wonderful duo. The whole EP is great, but this track is perfection. A tip for the best day ever: once listening on Grooveshark, click the repeat button next to volume and leave your browser open.

"Morris Brown" OutKast

This song gives me fond flashbacks of rooming with Mr. Nick Banks freshman year. Although I did not confirm this information, Nick explained to me that the marching band riffs throughout the song were performed by Morris Brown College. Hence, the title.

"Where Is My Mind?" The Pixies

How did I forget to post a song AT ALL on Sunday?? I guess I was bound to slip eventually, but now I'm committed to stay ever vigilant and prevent a recurrence. Good news, though! TWO new songs! I thought this tune was appropriate to demonstrate the mental situation I must have been in to neglect the song of the day.

"Better Than Her" Matisse

I saw Matisse do a three song set in State College last night. Her main single's not complicated, but definitely a fun club jam. There are murmurs that she could be the next Lady Gaga... time will tell.

"Squeeze Box" The Who

My life will be complete when a version of CSI is created that opens with this winner. Until then, this song will forever remind me of the awesome tv show "Freaks and Geeks". If you feel so inclined, watch a related clip.

"Scandal at the Parkade" Final Fantasy

Today's song is shrouded in mystery. I know next to nothing about the group, other than that singer/songwriter/violinist Owen Pallett is involved. This song is a really unique, and pleasant tune once it gets going. Since it wasn't even on Grooveshark, I posted a link to a different source. Just push play.

"All I Need" Mat Kearney

I've had the melody of this song in my head for awhile, but couldn't remember what it was from. Mystery solved, commence playing on repeat.

"Bones" The Killers

This song's been making a comeback on my iPod. The chorus and dynamics are really what sells the tune for me.

"Dreaming of You" Selena

I caught a little of the Jennifer Lopez movie this weekend and this song has been in my head ever since. A devastating ending to a life of promise.

"Life Less Ordinary" Carbon Leaf

I'm a big fan of the whole album, but this song has to be my favorite. It's hard to believe it has been over two years since I saw Carbon Leaf in Harrisonburg. Good times.

"What Part of Forever" Cee Lo Green

Cee Lo's been doing some good stuff since Gnarls Barkley. I only wish this wasn't a Twilight: Eclipse Soundtrack exclusive track.

"Shimmer" Fuel

Here's another song I lost in the back of my mind. This track is eons better than Fuel's first big hit "Hemorrhage (In My Hands)", for those who care to remember.

"Highway" Ingrid Michaelson

Ingrid keeps putting out great music, but I still love to marinate in some of her delicious earlier tunes. This specific track is just one of my favorites on an essentially flawless album.

"Canto della Terra" Andrea Bocelli

Andrea is a personal hero of mine. Despite being completely blind he has succeeded as a premiere opera singer, and in addition, can play the piano, flute, saxophone, trumpet, trombone, harp, guitar, and drums. His powerhouse tenor voice absolutely kills this song.

"For You I WIll (Confidence)" Teddy Geiger

My sister reminded me that this song existed yesterday. As far as I know, Teddy has fallen off the face of the earth over the past few years, which is unfortunate, because I really dig his one-hit-wonder. The burst at :32, the stutter on stutter, and dimming the lights/creating a moon in the mall... pure gold.

"Bad" U2

I love this song's build up of intensity and the passion of Bono's vocals.

Apparently this is what the kids are listening to these days. As it so happens, it's also what I'm listening to.

"Spiderwebs" No Doubt

I'm always hooked on this song within the first 15 seconds. Also, it may be the song most popularly used as an answering machine message.

"Hello Good Morning" Diddy - Dirty Money

This song was in all of our heads during my beach weekend with the Vratarich clan, especially, and appropriately, in the morning.

"Please Forgive Me" Patrick Doyle

I love this song, even though I've never seen the movie for which it was composed. Based on picture evidence, I imagine the film is rather smirky.

"Trust" Eric James & The New Century

The New Century isn't really all that new any longer. In fact, they have disbanded. Their existence was brief, but oh so nice.

"I Want Tears" Michelle Branch

Michelle's new EP retains elements of her style as a member of The Wreckers. She may have some country tendencies, but something always keeps me avidly listening album after album.

"Why Should I Worry" Billy Joel

I was reminded of this gem of a song (and movie) tonight by KH and AR. Thank you for your inspiration!

"Everytime You Go Away" Paul Young

The chorus of this song randomly popped into my head while taking a shower, and thus, it is today's SOTD. Writing credit goes out to Daryl Hall. I miss the days when songs like this hit #1 on the Billboard Hot 100.

I was due for something a little heavier, and lately this is just what the doctor ordered.

"I Believe (When I Fall In Love It Will Be Forever)" Stevie Wonder

This song would have been PERFECT for cover week, but somehow it slipped my mind. This is Stevie's classy version of an Art Garfunkel hit, which I first heard while watching the movie High Fidelity (chock full of quality songs).

"Now We Are Free" Hans Zimmer

After having listened to Hans' Inception soundtrack, I am reminded of his earlier epic composing for this epic film.
